Gallery Requirements
Lakeland Arts Association and the Depot Arts District observe requirements which are comparable with those of all major art organizations to benefit artists of all levels. Each entry must be the artist’s original creation and concept. Although artists may be inspired by other artists’ works as published in books, magazines or other resources, exact copies of another artist’s works may not be entered into competitions. The artist is solely responsible for any and all claims that may arise as a result of copyright infringement.
Entry Fees: Entry fees vary.
Number of entries per show may vary
Entry Form: One form per piece which constitutes the artist’s agreement with the Lakeland Arts Association related to the originality and sale price of each work. Entry grants the Lakeland Arts Association permission to photograph and reproduce, for publicity purposes and publication on our web page, any work(s) of art placed on exhibition.
Preparation of Work:
Each entry must be the artist’s original creation and concept and completed within 3 years prior to any show. (unless noted in the show prospectus).
Dry, signed by the artist.
Gallery wrap must continue around edges with no visible staples.
No giclee reproductions, unless specified in a show prospectus.
Weight: No more than 10 hanging pounds.
Frames: Must be in good condition.
Plexiglass: Mandatory for all framed and glass-covered work larger than 22”x 28” to accommodate weight. No exceptions.
Mats: Any color.
Wires: Taut wire secured with screw eye hooks or d-rings approximately one-third down from the top of frame edge. No saw-tooth hangers.
Sculptural / Pottery / Clay works/3D: must be self supporting, whether floor-standing or pedestal mounted
Sales: Works for sale will pay 30% commission to Lakeland Arts Association from the total sale price
Artists will receive commission checks following the close of the show.
Lakeland Arts Association will collect and remit all related sales tax.
Pickup: Artists are expected to leave their work in the exhibit until the close of the show. Work left more than 30 days after the designated pick-up date will be forfeited to the Lakeland Arts Association for disposal. Noncompliance may cause disqualification of the artist from future exhibits.
Responsibility: Submission of any entry into any show constitutes the Artist’s understanding and acceptance of all terms and conditions listed above.
The Lakeland Arts Association and Depot Arts District is a family friendly environment. The Gallery Committee reserves the right to reject an entry for any reason.
