Thrift Store Re-Do
Old Art. New Vision. Endless Possibilities!
Join us for our annual Thrift Store Re-Do, a creative exhibition that challenges artists to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. We're inviting artists to hit their favorite thrift shops, rescue forgotten artwork, and give it a fresh new life through their own artistic vision.
Whether you add unexpected characters to a vintage landscape, transform a forgotten floral painting into something funky, or give a tired piece of art a contemporary twist, this show is all about imagination, reinvention, and having a little fun!
The Creative Challenge
The rules are simple:
Shop Thrifty: Find a piece of artwork at a local thrift store for less than $25.
Reimagine It: Alter up to 40% of the original artwork's visible surface. At least 60% must remain intact and recognizable. The challenge is to work with the original piece, not completely cover it up!
Get Creative: Paint, collage, embellish, or use your favorite mixed-media techniques to give your thrifted treasure an entirely new personality.
Show Us the Before: Artists must email a photograph of their original thrift-store artwork, before making any alterations, to depotartsdistrict@gmail.com. This allows us to celebrate the transformation and share the before-and-after magic!
Show It Off: Bring your transformed masterpiece to the exhibition and celebrate the art of creative reuse! Intake on November 13th and 14th (times TBA) at the Depot Arts District.
Entry Fees
$10 for your first artwork
$5 for each additional artwork
